A critical element of a successful survey project is research and deed analysis.
At Santo Associates, principals and project managers have extensive research and document analysis experience often
necessary for instance, in untangling rural boundaries. Sal Santonastaso, L.S., founding principal of the firm,
has been called upon many times as an expert witness in court proceedings involving boundary line disputes.
Paul Tillmann, L.S., another principal of the firm, when previously employed by Greene County, was instrumental
in the development of the Greene County Tax Map System and was responsible for researching, correcting and updating
the tax maps during the first years of their existence.
Each of the company's full-time field survey crews are equipped with modern "total stations", electronic
data collectors, and a mobile communication system. The "total station" is capable of extraordinary survey
measurement, speed and accuracy, unmatched by more primitive instruments. Electronic data collectors increase both
the speed and accuracy of the survey crews in the field and also upon returning to the office by automatically
downloading the recorded data into the office computer network. The mobile communication system allows field-to-field
contact on larger projects as well as field-to-office communication virtually any time and any place. This places
an extensive office computer system at the disposal of field operatives that greatly enhances productivity. Each
Santo Associates' office is also equipped with Computer Aided Design (CAD) workstations and specifically tailored
surveying computer software.
